Casey's Birth Session Part 2

The big moment is finally here. Adam and Casey have been waiting for so long to see their baby and hold him in their arms. It was such an emotional 30 seconds. It always is, that first moment when you see your baby, emotions fly through the room and everyone present is overjoyed. For Casey the feeling was intensified by 100x's over. I was already tearing up before I even saw the baby knowing that when the moment would come I couldn't be caught up in tears. Meet little Mason.

This is always my favorite shot ( the one above ). If I had a big enough wall space I would get this one moment printed from each one of my birth sessions. Hmm I'm getting ideas now...

There isn't much to say when you have these moments captured. You can sit with your family and flip through all the pictures and they will feel like they were there there with you experiencing the birth of your child. Priceless.

They were in awe with everything Mason. So excited and happy... I left the hospital that day wanting a baby. Their excitement was so contagious. Nothing beats that feeling. One day. One day it will be my turn. For now, it's nice to share it with my client's families. Casey had a smile that didn't fade way the whole time she had Mason in her arms. Who can blame her?

Family time is another favorite moment. These grandma's were in heaven. I couldn't understand what Casey's mom was saying (because she was speaking in Chinese) but I really didn't need to know the words to take in the gist of the conversation. Facial expressions give it away. Clapping gives it away even more. HAPINESS. JOY. LOVE.

Mason is such a photogenic little baby. Smiling at me already at 0 days old. How sweet! Thank you Casey for allowing me to share your story. It was such a pleasure to work with you and your family. I am so fortunate to witness this kind of miracle every time I do a birth session. Makes me all jolly inside. It's not about going to the hospital and all the clinical part of the process. Because honestly I couldn't imagine myself as a nurse, I give all the credit to them for their hard-work in helping expecting moms deliver their baby. To me its about the result of all that pain and labor. The baby part. The moment when the parents first see their child, the baby's first look into the world, the parents holding their child for the first time, the family meeting their new baby... that is why I do this. To capture those first moments for the family. Now if you add in a family that has a great story and couldn't be more excited about having a child... makes being in the hospital for hours totally worth it. Mason is Adam & Casey's little miracle. I am more than thrilled to present to them these pictures. I know that they will treasure them forever.

Casey's Birth Session Part 1

I'm very excited to post these pictures on the blog. I had a special connection with this family. Whenever I get a call about a birth session I get all giddy and ready to meet the parents. Turns out that when Casey called me to set up a meet I was in the midst of planning my Miami trip. So naturally I was nervous to have such an unpredictable session and a vacation during the same time. But I decided to meet with them regardless and see when the due date was and the rest of details about when the baby was coming. I knew I would get sucked in, happens every time. Miami plans out the window. For some reason this time was different. After talking to Casey for a while, I wanted to be part of their special day more than I wanted to go visit my family. What made this session so special is that this is their second attempt at having a baby. Complications unfortunately left them at loss with their first child. By the tears in our first conversation I can only imagine how traumatic something like that is. The birth of Mason would be something long awaited and incredible for this family.

Casey called me on a Thursday and we decided to meet the next morning. Meeting next day is something that I hardly ever do, but it was convenient and why not? Turns out that she was due the exact same time I had set out to go to Miami, so I canceled my trip and was ready for the hospital call. I didn't have to wait long. The very next day (Saturday) Casey calls. Buzzer ringtone and all. I am in Walmart in the line to pay... after hearing the news that she is in the hospital... I got soooo excited. It was 10:00pm ... perfect timing for a birth session. I called my best friend Rex, with the news that I was still coming to Miami. I was getting both of my wishes!!! So off to the hospital. Casey and Adam were very calm. She had already had her epidural, it was now a waiting game. I liked how she brought her own slippers... I notice small things like that. I probably would be barefoot, just because I can never find my shoes, but definitely something to remember when it's my turn. They are iPhone folks too... big plus. LOL it's so funny how all iPhone users stick together.

Adam was so sweet the whole time, anxiously awaiting for his little boy. It's the middle of the night and we were all ready to see Mason. The family were all asleep in the waiting room, wanting updates, asking when is Mason coming? She was moving along pretty quickly, so we were all hoping he would be here before breakfast.

Up next is more of Casey's birth story. I am back from Miami for those of you that thought I was going to stay... (I wish!) Good news is that I will be back next Thursday for 10 more days. I am hopeful this time, getting to go back so quickly, maybe I'll move back. I got sick as soon as I got there with what seems to be like the flu. It sucks being sick. Especially on vacation. So my plans to work while I was there turned into stay in bed while in the sunshine state. Not fun. Therefore things are a bit behind. I am slowly recovering from this yucky stuff and catching up with work quickly. If you haven't heard back from me, don't worry I'm not ignoring you. Having so much to do seems overwhelming when I am not feeling good. Thank you all for your patience (those of you waiting to see your pictures... :) I am editing day/night when I don't feel drugged by all the meds, updates & galleries for everyone are coming shortly). hello from MIA

Hey y'all - greetings from Miami. :) If you didn't already know, I will be here until next Tuesday, March 23rd. So if you have tried contacting me and weren't able to reach me right away it's because I am on vacation. But don't worry, I am still trying to work and answer emails and all that, my turn-around time is just a bit slower. I would of hoped that being in Miami would of meant perfect weather and time to have fun. Oh how I was mistaken. I got sick as soon as I got here. The weather is kinda nutty... why is it cold in MIA???!!! The only good thing about being sick while visiting is that my Momma takes care of me. Haven't had that in a while and it feels so nice. :) My blog is going to be neglected till I get back, but I will have PLENTY to post then, so come back and see. Alrighty... have a great weekend everyone!

These past couple of weeks I have been surrounded by babies again. Tiny cute little faces. Sometimes I get asked if being around babies so much makes me want to have my own. Of course it does. But here is the thing... every time that feeling comes around, I get a new baby to photograph and I fulfill that motherly instinct until the next time it happens again. Isn't that wonderful? Meet Bella. Itty-bitty precious sweetness in mommy's hands. I have officially named this next picture's hat the smiling facilitator... every time I use it magic happens. It was so nice to work with miss. Bella, she behaved so well. No poopy accidents this time. :) Enjoy your baby's preview!

It seems like I am in a mad rush every time I am getting ready to go out of town. Trying to get all things done before I leave to Miami on Thursday gives me no time to pack. So I am off now to client meets all day in efforts to finish work today and pack tomorrow. Sounds like a plan.
